Treat yourself to the healing powers of cacao, sound, and restorative yoga under the full moon with Liberty Glaser and Emily Rogers.
***Pre Registration would be greatly appreciated as we will have to purchase the cacao prior to the event.
The full moon can be looked at as a representation of something at its full brightness. Something that has gone through many phases in which to be that way. Each phase is just as beautiful and meaningful as the one before it. After the moon finds its fullest expression, it will slowly move its way back to the new moon. The moon is a great visualization of the natural way of all living things; expansion and contraction. In order to be expanded or at our full brightness, we must contract. Contract simply means a place of rest. The demand from society and the expectations we put on ourselves to go, go, go make it difficult for the less than seven hours of sleep the average American gets each night to be sufficient rest to restore our bodies. Our bodies will often find the energy in other places, like placing our nervous system in a constant state of hyper-arousal/sympathetic nervous system which is unhealthy for the mind and body. We must find the moments in our lives to rest, restore, relax, resource, into the parasympathetic nervous system so it can refuel and we can move back towards expansion in a healthy and natural way. Rarely do we afford the acts of relaxation, rest, comfort. They become special treats we give ourselves on our birthdays, rather than something we do regularly just because we know we need in order to operate at our best. So it takes steps of radical self-love to give ourselves these moments.
Let’s explore what self-love and rest can feel like in community. Allow yourself to tap into your parasympathetic nervous system and restore yourself to your full brightness.
This offering will begin with ceremonial cacao. The beans are purchased from Atucún Chocolatería, located in Comayagua, Honduras. Atucún works directly with various cacao producers located throughout Honduras, and the cacao trees are grown sustainably in polyculture. The beans are then roasted and refined into cacao by Ryan DeLuca in Grand Rapids, MI. Cacao is pure chocolate and medicinal for our whole selves, mind, body, and spirit. It is a natural heart opener, and we will use it intentionally in our meditation practice to deepen the experience. Cacao is also a superfood that increases blood flow throughout our body, lowers blood pressure, and helps tissue cells receive nutrients to heal.
After receiving the Cacao, Emily will guide you into sweet and relaxing restorative postures while Liberty provides healing sounds and vibrations via crystal bowls, chimes and various instruments to inspire relaxation and peace. Restorative yoga poses are completely supported by the floor and made comfortable by the use of blankets and bolsters. This yoga is sweet and accessible for all activity levels.
Please be there at least 15 minutes early and consider bringing your own mug as we are trying to reduce our waste! Bring all the items that will bring you comfort. A yoga mat, blanket, crystals, and eye pillows are all great options!
